HouseholdHierarchy: INTRODUCING A PUPPY OR KITTEN TO YOUR PACK

So, you’re bringing a new dog or cat home. Of course, you want to make sure your existing household pets are on board. While you’re familiar with the temperament of your resident pets, introducing a new friend to the fold often changes those dynamics. Protecting the wellbeing of your newbies is also front of mind. First, make sure the time is right to introduce a new pet into your home. If you have a senior dog or cat, having a younger animalaround can cause them undue stress. If you’ve already got a pet (or 2) that seem to struggle with jealousy and competition, it helps to develop a plan to improve these behaviours before bringing a new friend home. Luckily, there are a few tricks you can prepare in advance – and a few things to do on the big day itself – to make the transition a smooth one.
